Flight hardware, secure comms, and space data — built from the silicon up.
I'm Vedant Somani, a CSE student at Bennett University building embedded systems, drones, and the software around them.
Selected work
-
Saarthi (H7-Pro)
In layout — schematic complete, routing in progress
A dual-MCU flight controller on a 90 mm board, with the servo outputs driven only by a separate safety microcontroller.
- Role
- Hardware architecture, KiCad schematic and layout, FlightCore software
- Evidence
- ERC: 0 errors; FlightCore host tests: 72/72 pass (simulation)
-
TESSERA
Research
Thermal-infrared to colour for Landsat imagery, for ISRO's Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon 2026, with a map of where the model is guessing.
- Role
- Team leader, team of 4
- Evidence
- PSNR: 24.84 dB; Hallucination proxy: 0.024 (lower is better)
-
ANAV
Built
An autonomous UAV for a Martian-surface landing scenario that maps hazards from its camera and IMU and picks the safest place to land.
- Evidence
- A built quadcopter with an onboard companion computer, tested in a tent hall and outdoors, and a browser ground dashboard. The mission behaviour below is as described in the project write-up; flight logs are not published here yet.
-
VAJRA
Restricted. v1.0 (frozen)
A point-to-point post-quantum secure link between a controller and a node, frozen at v1.0 in Rust.
- Evidence
- Rust tests: 16 pass; Python reference: 53/53 pass
-
SKYNET
Restricted. Simulation-tested
A dual-brain aircraft stack: a Pixhawk flight controller for real-time control and a Raspberry Pi companion for the mission.
- Evidence
- A Raspberry Pi companion flew a 2 m takeoff, hover, and landing mission in ArduPilot simulation, and the autopilot landed on its own when the companion was killed.
Roles
-
since Feb 2026
Head of Research, Technotix BU, the IoT & Robotics Club at Bennett University
Coordinated drone, ESP32, and sensor-integration work in a five-member robotics subgroup; ran two workshops on UAV basics and ESP32 sensor interfacing for 250+ attendees; mentored 50+ juniors on hardware debugging and embedded protocols.
-
since Oct 2025
Head of Research, BC3, the Bennett Cloud Computing Club
Organised workshops on edge computing and deployment pipelines for club members.
-
2024–25
Member, BURS, the Bennett Undergraduate Research Society
First-year member of the undergraduate research community.
